Ain’t No Redemption, Journal Five – NaNoWriMo Day 7

4,116 – Words Written Today

13,050 – Total Words So Far

Awesome day for writing, today. The narrative flowed well, the dialogue felt natural and overall, it’s making sense!

To celebrate, he’s the opening paragraph of Ain’t No Redemption:

From Chapter One: Of Gunpowder Deeds (First Draft)

There are many ways to kill a man. A blade in the night, poison in his drink, or hands around his throat. For some it was a question of what he deserves; a reaction to past injustice. Laws were set in place to decide folk’s fate. Rules that say a man must die in one fashion over another in relation to the crimes committed. But these were rules for men who fancied themselves complicated beings, who saw themselves a complex creatures of order. It is all a conceit.

Bates had one answer to the question of death, but he was happy to repeat it six times.

Happy Thursday!
